Philadelphia Gay News laid out a PBS NewsHour/NPR/Marist poll which found, despite of the wave of anti-trans legislation in states across the country, that two thirds of Americans are against laws that limit transgender rights. The poll goes into detail about trans issues across different age groups and political parties, including views on gender-affirming care for minors, trans athletes in sports, and the Equality Act. Overall, the numbers show that those who support anti-trans legislation are in the minority, but PGN emphasized that the Republican-majority Supreme Court, among other elements of the political landscape, will make preventing such legislation difficult at a state level.

LGBTQ Nation reported on May 26 that Governor Kate Brown has signed a bill banning the "LGBTQ panic" murder defense. Before the signing, a defendant could claim they murdered someone in a "panic" about their own heterosexuality, after finding out the victim was gay or trans. The defense was usually used when the perpetrator had previously had sex with the victim, and it has managed to downgrade at least one murder charge from first-degree to second-degree in the past. This makes Oregon the 14th state to ratify such a bill.
