Capitol Hill Arts Center presents Stones In His Pockets
Capitol Hill Arts Center presents Stones In His Pockets
In County Kerry, Ireland rests a small village where cows graze on green rolling hills and one can take in a breathtaking view of the Blasket Islands. Here the locals dare to dream movie star dreams. Here "&the stars become the extras and the extras become the stars."

Capitol Hill Arts Center (CHAC) stages the world of this sad yet humorous production of "Stones In His Pockets" by Marie Jones, directed by Jerry Manning, Casting Director of the Seattle Repertory Theatre and featuring actors Darragh Kennan and Tim Hyland (opening 2 December 2005). This is the second show in CHAC's 2005-2006 season.

QUIET ON THE SET!

In this tongue-in-cheek comedy two actors portray over 13 characters amidst a Hollywood film production that overruns a "picturesque" Irish village. It's not the first film to be shot there. In fact one of the locals is a surviving extra who appeared in The Quiet Man. Some villagers are so blasé about the production that they laugh at the accent of the leading lady played by an American movie star and burst into hysterics during scenes depicting a bogus interpretation of Anglo-Irish history. They aren't so cavalier when they discover a local teenager broken by an American dream that doesn't apply to him. Now that's a wrap for the extras!

DIRECTOR'S CUT

"'Stones in His Pockets' is an actor's playground. The first time I read the script, I wondered to myself how in blue blazes do you do this piece? The answer is actually rather simple. Find two amazing actors and let them loose. The joy of 'Stones' is in the performance. We're lucky at CHAC to have two of Seattle's finest in the show. Tim Hyland and Darragh Kennan are perfect - all that AND they're Irish to boot," says Director Jerry Manning.
