Bellevue Chamber Chorus recognized by City of Bellevue; hosting fundraising event Sunday, April 14

The Bellevue Chamber Chorus was recognized last week by the Mayor and City Council with an official Proclamation naming April 14, 2019 as 'Bellevue Chamber Chorus Day.' In it, the Chorus was commended for its 35-year commitment to providing professional quality, critically acclaimed performances of diverse choral music for the community.

In accepting the Proclamation, Fredrick Lokken, BCC Artistic Director and Conductor, said, 'The Chorus is proud to have been based in the city of Bellevue these past 35 years, and to have been an integral part of the city's arts and music culture over these three-plus decades. Whether performing here in Bellevue, around the Eastside and greater Puget Sound region, or in Canada, Australia, and Europe, including in Bellevue's sister city of Kladno in the Czech Republic, we've been pleased and proud to represent the city and region as cultural ambassadors.'

In the past 35 years, the Chorus has grown into an artistic institution instrumental in building the arts scene on the Eastside. It has collaborated and performed with many other regional groups, including the Bellevue Youth Choirs, Kirkland Choral Society, Seattle Symphony and Sammamish Symphony. Most recently, in concerts in March, the Chorus partnered with the talented young singers of Mercer Island High School's Bel Canto and the Bellevue High School Chorale, affording these young musicians the opportunity to perform with an adult chorus.

The Bellevue Chamber Chorus will celebrate their 35-year milestone with 'Songs in the Garden,' a spring fundraising event on Sunday, April 14, 5-9pm, at the Bellevue Botanical Gardens (12001 Main St., Bellevue). Celebrate the 35th Anniversary of Bellevue Chamber Chorus at our 'Songs in the Garden' fundraising event!

Festivities take place in the beautiful Bellevue Botanical Garden's Aaron Education Center, and include a catered buffet dinner by Lynn's Bistro, a wine and champagne bar with delicious varietals and select beers, musical performances by the Chorus, silent auction, dessert-dash-auction and other activities to round out a fun and festive evening that will help support our mission of bringing exciting and beautiful choral music to the Greater Eastside and Puget Sound region. Tickets to the fundraising event are $60 and include buffet dinner, one complimentary adult beverage, and entertainment.

BCC will then mark the finale of their 35th anniversary season with celebratory concerts on Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19, showcasing favorite repertoire from the past seasons. More information about each of these events can be found on the Chorus website http://bellevuechamberchorus.org/
