Seattle Women's Chorus celebrate 'Legends of Rock' at Benaroya Hall April 28

SEATTLE WOMEN'S CHORUS
'LEGENDS OF ROCK'
SOUTH WHIDBEY HIGH SCHOOL
PERFORMING ARTS CENTER April 20 @ 7pm
BENAROYA HALL
April 28 @ 4pm

The Seattle Women's Chorus (SWC) wraps their 2018-2019 season with one big blowout concert at Benaroya Hall (located on 3rd Ave. between Union and University Sts. in downtown Seattle) on April 28 at 4pm. 'Legends of Rock' is a loud proud celebration to the trailblazing singer-songwriters who weren't afraid to raise their voices and make a scene.

Eighteen indomitable women are represented in song; women like Tina Turner, Janis Joplin and Carly Simon, who erupted onto the mainstream rock scene. They blew a hole through the glass ceiling that generations of women rockers like Patti Smith, Joan Jett, Alanis Morissette, Florence Welch and Debbie Harry have continued to soar through.

Local musical treasure Sarah Rudinoff is the special guest artist. She is joined on stage by Season 6 'The Voice' contestant Ayesha 'Musicbox' Brooks. Rudinoff, Brooks and SWC are partnering to raise funds for Rain City Rock Camp scholarships; together their contributions will offset tuition for girls and gender non-conforming individuals of diverse backgrounds.

SWC is performing a benefit concert to support CADA (Citizens Against Domestic and Sexual Abuse) on April 20 at 7pm at South Whidbey High School Performing Arts Center (5675 Maxwelton Road, Langley, WA). Tickets are $25 and available through Brown Paper Tickets: (800) 838-3006 and at https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/4101492

Tickets to the April 28 Seattle concert at Benaroya Hall are $15-$65 and are available at www.seattlechoruses.org or over the phone at (206) 388-1400. The Seattle area box office is open Monday through Friday, 11am-6pm.

About Sarah Rudinoff
Sarah Rudinoff has been making theatrical work in Seattle for over 25 years. As an actress, she has performed in every major theatre, most recently as Rosie in Mamma Mia at The 5th Avenue and as Lisa Kron in Well at Seattle Rep. Sarah was the first actor to play Yitzak in Hedwig and the Angry Inch outside of the original production and she sings Led Zeppelin in the burlesque extravaganza 'House of Thee Unholy' at The Triple Door. With collaborators Gretta Harley and Elizabeth Kenny, she co-created and starred in These Streets at ACT Theatre, about women musicians of Seattle's 'grunge' years. Sarah has received a Stranger Genius Award in Theatre.

About Ayesha Brookes
Ayesha 'Musicbox' Brooks is a Seattle based soul rock artist. She is the front woman of Karmic Unrest and is recording their second album. She's played venues all over the city including The Royal Room, The Triple Door and Sea Monster Lounge. She was a contestant on NBC's 'The Voice' season 6, landing a spot on Team Shakira and Team Usher.

About Seattle Men's Chorus/Seattle Women's Chorus
The internationally renowned Seattle Men's Chorus (founded 1979) and Seattle Women's Chorus (founded 2002) comprise the largest community choral organization in North America. Both choruses stand out as the largest LGBTQ-identified men's and women's choruses in the world. The choruses comprise one of the Pacific Northwest's largest, most vibrant and successful music organizations, performing in Seattle's most prestigious venues for an annual audience of more than 30,000 patrons. Flying House Productions is the not-for-profit organization that governs and manages the Choruses. Collectively there are over 600 singing members along with staff, volunteers, and associate members who support both Choruses. They are a leading voice for the LGBTQ community and offer more than 30 outreach events and main stage concert performances annually.
