'Les Étoiles' benefit cabaret raises over $4,500 for Pacific Northwest Cabaret Association

by MK Scott - SGN Contributing Writer

'LES ÉTOILES'
BENEFIT CABARET
JULIA'S ON BROADWAY
November 18

It was a full house this past Sunday at Julia's on Broadway for 'Les Étoiles,' a benefit celebrating the art of the cabaret with proceeds going to the Pacific Northwest Cabaret Association, the non-profit producer of 'March is Cabaret Month.' Its founder, Arnaldo! Drag Chanteuse, hosted the two and a half hour showcase that featured Joanne Klein, John Engerman, Sweet Spot Combo, Angie Louise, Valerie Piacenti, Gabrielle Nicole and more.

To honor the future of cabaret, Arnaldo brought up 13-year-old singer Ellie Nucci. Later, Aleksa Manila assisted in a live auction for the audience to bid on items, including Arnaldo's prized sign and framed Eartha Kitt LP that sold for $500.

'Les Étoiles' cabaret was staged to benefit the Pacific Northwest Cabaret Association (PNWCA), the producer of March Is Cabaret Month (MICM) which began in 2008. The MICM Festival is committed to providing artists a platform to create their own cabaret show and to giving back to the artists 85% of the ticket sales. 'We can only continue to fiscally do this with your support,' Arnaldo said.

'Les Étoiles' is French meaning 'The Stars.' The art of the modern cabaret originated in Paris. When the form crossed the Atlantic to America, many venues in major American cities adopted the French names as well. PNWCA is continuing this tradition with 'Les Étoiles'.
