Washington state Governor Jay Inslee to present keynote at Seattle CannaCon

CannaCon, the nation's premier cannabis business industry convention, has announced that Washington state Governor Jay Inslee will present as a keynote speaker of the 2018 Seattle Expo.

The 5th annual event will be held February 15-17 at the Washington State Convention Center and host more than 100 speakers, presenters, and celebrity influencers over the course of three days. The Expo hosts exhibitions from coast to coast uniting buyers, exhibitors, and consumers of the medical and recreational cannabis industry. CannaCon is one of the world's largest Cannabis business marketplaces, boasting more than 300 vendors and over 10,000 attendees per show. Governor Jay Inslee has been a vocal opponent of the recent U.S. Department of Justice repeal of the Cole Memorandum, which allowed Washington to govern its own common-sense marijuana laws. In the face of government malfeasance and diminishing federal support for a potentially multibillion-dollar industry, the Governor upheld his support of cannabis industry, claiming, 'Make no mistake: as we have told the Department of Justice ever since I-502 was passed in 2012, we will vigorously defend our state's laws against undue federal infringement.'

Governor Inslee has led his political career with a model of an equitable and sustainable future. He will discuss his advocacy for state rights and the importance of the cannabis industry in Washington and beyond as CannaCon's keynote speaker on Thursday February 15.
