'What good is sitting alone in your room? Come hear the music play! Life is a cabaret, old chum, come to the CABARET!' Qurb Media Group and Seattle International Film Festival invite you to dress in your finest cabaret-style attire for an evening inside the fabled Kit Kat Club as Seattle drag icon Robbie Turner (RuPaul's Drag Race) presents an original Cabaret-inspired revue followed by a screening of Bob Fosse's Academy Award winning 1972 film.

Arrive early to the SIFF Cinema Egyptian Theatre on Wednesday May 24, 2017 for a delightful pre-screening cocktail hour with a bevy of special guests and entertainment including SPARKLE LEIGH, ABBEY ROADS, VISAGE LARUE, and more!

Doors open at 6pm with pre-show entertainment beginning a 7pm. Tickets to this special film festival screening event are available at any SIFF venue box office or get them online at: https://www.siff.net/festival/cabaret

Some lucky guests will also win tickets to see the upcoming touring production of the original Broadway musical Cabaret courtesy of Seattle Theatre Group. Direct from Broadway, the acclaimed masterpiece returns to Seattle with performances at the Paramount Theatre June 13-25. As part of their 50th Anniversary Season, the critically acclaimed and award-winning Roundabout Theatre Company is proud to present SAM MENDES (Skyfall, American Beauty) and ROB MARSHALL'S (Into the Woods and Chicago, the films) Tony Award®-winning production of Cabaret. Tickets and info available online at http://www.stgpresents.org

About Cabaret (1972)
Very little was retained from the 1966 stage musical Cabaret when it was made into a film five years later, except the premise - but what a timely premise: the cruelly ironic contrast between the decadent floor show at Berlin's seedy Kit Kat Club and the violent rise of the Third Reich outside the club's walls. Perhaps what's most crushing about Cabaret is not only its sense of foreboding doom, but the realization that despite all their celebratory gender-bending iconoclasm, their insistence that 'life is a cabaret,' the artists of the time could do nothing to stop the cataclysm. In keeping brutal reality at bay, fiddling while Berlin burns (or at least starts to smolder), are Bowles and the MC complicit? Fosse seems to ask. And are we watching a beautifully made film about the impotence of art?

Whether we are dealing with 1930's Nazi Germany, regressive politics, or future power struggles, Cabaret will live on as something more than just an acclaimed and entertaining film, but a cautionary tale for the ages. The Kit Kat Club serves as a reminder not to isolate ourselves so much from what is going on in society that the darker days of history can easily repeat itself and democracy can be threatened.'

About the Director
Bob Fosse was an iconic director of the 1970s and 1980s, with films such as Lenny (1974) and All That Jazz (1979) under his (dance) belt. His background as a choreographer led him to directing the 1972 film version of the musical Cabaret.
