2016 State of the Hill Address and the annual Spirit Award

The Capitol Hill Chamber of Commerce (CHCC) has announced that this year's State of the Hill address will be held April 20, 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Grim's (1512 11th Ave).

'The State of the Hill is the Chamber's opportunity to celebrate the successes of 2015 and discuss our plans for 2016,' Mel Burchett, CHCC Community Engagement Manager, said in a media release. 'Join fellow chamber members, business owners, public officials and your neighbors for an evening of food, music and fun.'

According to officials, this year's State of the Hill Address will be the first for current CHCC Executive Director, Sierra Hansen. The evening's emcee will be The Lady B.

'We'll have an assortment of delicious bites from Lost Lake, Poquitos, and Big Mario's,' said Burchett. 'DJ Blueyedsoul will be spinning great tracks throughout the evening and the Awesome Witch of Rad will be offering guests intuitive readings. We will also be raffling off prizes from local businesses throughout the evening.'

According to officials, the State of the Hill event is a celebration of organizations and individuals who make Capitol Hill a fun, safe, diverse and vibrant place to visit, live and relax. The Chamber will present the 2015 Spirit Award to an individual, organization or business that has shown an outstanding commitment to the Capitol Hill community. The Spirit Award represents the best of Capitol Hill through community service, excellence, and passion for this neighborhood.

As this is the sixth year of presenting the Spirit Award, CHCC will acknowledge previous award winners during the evening: Justin Carder (writer and publisher of the Capitol Hill Seattle blog), Catherine Hillenbrand (for her work with the Champion on Sound Transit TOD site), Kay Rood (as an advocate for Cal Anderson Park and creator of the Cal Anderson Park Alliance), Michael Malone (historic preservation and advocacy around Pike/ Pine) and Chip Ragen and Michael Wells (for their work as founding members of the Capitol Hill Chamber of Commerce).

For more information about the chamber please call 206-328-6646 or visit http://www.caphillchamber.org.
