Seattle's Robbie Turner to compete on 'RuPaul's Drag Race - Season 8'

by Albert Rodriguez - SGN A&E Writer

On your heels, get set, go!

Let the games begin, hunties, as 12 new queens compete in the Gay Grand Prix, 'RuPaul's Drag Race.' 'Season 8' features another batch of contestants from around the country, including Robbie Turner from Seattle, who follows former Emerald City contenders Jinkx Monsoon (Season 5 winner), BenDeLaCreme (Season 6) and Magnolia Crawford (Season 5).

In addition Turner, who hosts her own show at downtown's Hard Rock Cafe, in the running for the draggiest of races are Acid Betty (Brooklyn, NY), Bob the Drag Queen (New York, NY), Chi Chi Devayne (Shreveport, LA), Cynthia Lee Fontaine (Austin, TX), Dax ExclamationPoint (Savannah, GA), Derrick Barry (Las Vegas, NV), Kim Chi (Chicago, IL), Laila McQueen (Gloucester, MA), Naomi Smalls (Redlands, CA), Naysha Lopez (Chicago, IL) and Thorgy Thor (Brooklyn, NY). The oldest competitor is self-proclaimed 'bitch' Acid Betty, at 37, while 22 year-old Naomi Smalls, who comes from a large family with 11 siblings, is the youngest.

The next season premieres on March 7 (at 9 p.m.), which is also a milestone for the Logo TV series; it's 100th episode featuring its 100th queen. Superstar entertainer RuPaul, or Mama Ru as she's often called, will return as the hostess with the mostest for the eight installment of the show, along with her usual sidekick Michelle Visage. Mums the word on the guest judges lineup.

'Oh! My! Gag! This season's queens are the most twisted yet,' said RuPaul in a statement released prior to the big 'RuVeal,' or announcement of the contestants. 'I fell in love with them the first moment we met, and I can't wait to unleash these crazy and talented bitches onto the world.'
