Calvary Lutheran Church to display section of AIDS Quilt in Federal Way |
Calvary Lutheran Church has partnered with Tacoma Art Museum (TAM) to present an AIDS Quilt exhibit during the month of October. This coincides with TAM's Art AIDS America exhibition.
A 12' x 12' section of the AIDS Quilt, featuring 8 panels, will be on display in Calvary's vaulted Sanctuary. The exhibit will be open Monday, October 12 to Sunday, November 1. Exhibit hours are Monday to Thursday, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Saturdays, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Guests will be able to view the quilt in a quiet, contemplative environment. There is no charge.
There will be guest speakers, including a representative from the Pierce County AIDS Organization, who will present 'Progress in AIDS Research, Treatment, Cure' on Monday, October 19 at 7:00 p.m., and a representative of the Tacoma Art Museum, who will discuss the Art AIDS America exhibition on Sunday, October 25 at 4:00 p.m.
The exhibit will conclude with a Community All Saints Prayer & Remembrance Service on Sunday, November 1 at 4:00 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to place the name of a loved one lost to AIDS on a Memorial Display.
