Captain Smartypants presents 'Zero Brides for Seven Brothers'
In three performances only at The Triple Door |
CAPTAIN SMARTYPANTS
'ZERO BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS'
THE TRIPLE DOOR
September 12, 18 & 19 @ 8pm
Learn what it means to be a 'bro' from ten pop music and culture-loving Gay men. Join the musical comedy ensemble Captain Smartypants for their unique take on brotherhood, featuring hits from the Doobie Brothers, the Osmonds, the Jacksons, plus the Brothers Grimm and Gibb. With medleys, mashups, and a mini musical, these outrageously hilarious musical funnymen will roast and toast, prance and dance. Original songs like 'Straight Guy Hug,' as well as Elton John's 'Daniel' and the Hollies' 'He Ain't Heavy' are used to relay both touching and hilarious tales from the boys' own life experiences, including those awkward locker room moments and the beloved big brother (both real and imagined).
Captain Smartypants is joined by Seattle's alt-bluegrass trio The Half Brothers, featuring John Ackermann on mandolin, Rick Miller on guitar, and David Nixon on banjo. Together the trio has released three albums since 2005 and performed with Annex Theatre, Theatre Off Jackson, and On the Boards.
Captain Smartypants is thrilled to return to The Triple Door after a successful inaugural run in the Fall of 2014. With a state-of-the-art sound system, concert grand piano, and full-sized movie screen (for the videos that accompany the show), the audience dines in comfort and style. 'Zero Brides for Seven Brothers' is directed by Seattle Men's Chorus' Associate Artistic Director and Captain Smartypants Director Eric Lane Barnes. The cast includes the ten members of Captain Smartypants: Colin Behl, Jeffrey Erickson, Joshua Herrington, Rad Milosavljevic, David Nilsson, Jason Reuer, Don Riling, Dante Rodriguez, Tyler Smith and Chris Hoffman. 'Zero Brides for Seven Brothers' is presented by James Alan Salon & Spa.
Tickets are $25 and $35 (front row only) and are on sale now online at tickets.thetripledoor.net.
About Captain Smartypants - A Small Ensemble of Seattle Men's Chorus
Captain Smartypants is a homosexual vocal comedy group. They have performed all over the Pacific Northwest and beyond, thrilling, delighting and alarming audiences from Washington DC to San Francisco. Since their inception in 2000 Captain Smartypants has performed with Ann Wilson, Jennifer Holliday, Kelli O'Hara, Kristin Chenoweth, Melissa Manchester, American Idol finalist Blake Lewis and was Seattle's warm-up act for Margaret Cho when she filmed 'The Notorious C.H.O.' in 2002. In 2004, the Pants toured with their astonishing CD UnderCover which was touted as '& the best CD ever made in the history of music' by Hyperbole Magazine. UnderCover and Fruit of the Month Club is available at http://www.flyinghouse.org/store/orderform.asp#music and also on iTunes. Their performance of 'Kislev Cowboys' (aka 'Brokeback Dreidel') has received over 500,000 hits on YouTube and was featured on NPR's 'Hearing Voices' in November of 2008. Captain Smartypants has toured with their shows 'Sticks and Stones,' 'Undercover,' 'Trousers of Terror,' 'PowerPants,' 'Cirque du Slaque' and 'Air Smarty.' Their 10-year anniversary show 'Captain Smartypants: The First 100 Years' broke all previous Smartypants box office records in its run at Seattle's Town Hall in May of 2010. Today, Captain Smartypants all live together in a tree house in Yelm, where they weave their own clothing out of wild vines. Their favorite color is 'plaid' and they eat nothing but circus peanuts and fiddlehead ferns. Eric Lane Barnes, Flying House Productions' Associate Artistic Director, is their trepid leader.
Our Mission: is to entertain, enlighten, unify and heal our audience and members, using the power of words and music to recognize the value of Gay and straight people and their relationships.
Our Vision: A world that accepts and values its Gay and Lesbian citizens.
