OUTBOUND: Delta Air Lines welcomes Pride flyers with first class deals

by Albert Rodriguez - SGN A&E Writer

How will you be celebrating Pride this year? In style, if you're traveling on Delta Air Lines. Passengers flying to the Utah Pride Festival, in Salt Lake City (June 4-7), Motor City Pride, in Detroit (June 6-7), LA Pride (June 12-14), NYC Pride (June 21-28), Twin Cities Pride, in Minneapolis (June 27-28), and our very own Seattle Pride Parade and PrideFest on June 28 can enjoy all the perks of First Class, including priority boarding, ample legroom, and complimentary beverages. Additionally, travelers will have access to the Delta Sky Club at select departing airports before jetting off to their respective destinations. In recent years, Delta has partnered with several Pride events in North America, from Los Angeles to Toronto to its home base of Atlanta. It has also been a sponsor of GNETWORK 360 in Argentina, Attitude Pride Awards in London, and the Brazilian Association for Gay Tourism. Those wanting to take advantage of the First Class Pride deal should purchase their tickets by May 23 for Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, and Detroit, and by June 6 for New York, Minneapolis, and Seattle, which is now an official hub of Delta. To view fares and plan your trip, go to delta.com/pridedeals.

Whistler is one of the most scenic destinations in the Northwest, a haven for skiers and adventure sports enthusiasts. But there's plenty to do for non-ski bunnies and non-thrill seekers, and summertime is especially beautiful at this mountain resort area in British Columbia. Seattleites can get to Whistler without a car, by taking the bus (boltbus.com), train (amtrak.com, rockymountaineer.com), or plane (alaskaair.com, aircanada.com) to Vancouver, then hopping a shuttle (pacificcoach.com) for the 1.5 hour journey along the world-famous Sea-to-Sky Highway. Between now and September 30, you can enter for a chance to win a trip to Whistler that includes round-trip airfare, round-trip transfer between Vancouver International Airport and Whistler (courtesy of Pacific Coach Lines), seven nights' accommodation (courtesy of The Westin Resort & Spa, Whistler), whitewater rafting for two on the Elaho River (courtesy of Canadian Outback Rafting Co.), helicopter tour (courtesy of Blackcomb Aviation), zipline adventure for two (courtesy of Ziptrek Ecotours), ATV tour on Blackcomb Mountain with a salmon bake dinner (courtesy of Canadian Wilderness Adventures), the ultimate backcountry exploration RZR tour for two (courtesy of The Adventure Group), Scandinave bath experience for two (courtesy of Scandinave Spa Whistler), Whistler Blackcomb PEAK 2 PEAK 360 Experience tickets, and Whistler restaurant gift certificate for $400. You can enter the contest at whistler.com/onlyinwhistler.

Need to cool down? Do it in Vegas. The hottest LGBT pool party awaits you at Luxor, as 'Temptation Sundays' returns for its sixth consecutive season through September 20. Scheduled events include Memorial Weekend with DJs The Perry Twins on May 24, Fourth of July celebration with DJ Morningstar on July 5, Sixth Anniversary Party with DJ Axis on August 2, Las Vegas PRIDE Kickoff with DJ Casey Alva on September 13, and Las Vegas PRIDE Finale with DJ Axis on September 20. I attended 'Temptations Sundays' two years ago and had a blast; it was the perfect spot to soak up the sun, cool off in the pool, listen to good tunes, and sip cocktails, while checking out hundreds of hot men. General admission is $20, or $10 for guests staying at either Luxor or Excalibur, as well as military members and Las Vegas residents. Upgrade the experience by reserving a cabana for $375, which comes with a $100 food and beverage credit. This VIP service can accommodate up to six persons and includes four padded lounge chairs, a misting system, free Wi-Fi, and mini fridge. VIP chairs with umbrellas are available for all guests for a $35 charge. For more information on 'Temptation Sundays,' go to luxor.com/LGBT.

80,000 people braved the pouring rain last weekend in Brussels, as the city hosted The Belgian Pride festivities on May 16. The celebration included two weeks of events leading up to the parade, which took place in the capital city's downtown area. Brussels will next host the Union Cup, the largest European Gay-inclusive rugby tournament, between May 21 and 24. More than 700 rugby players from around the continent will participate in the premiere sporting event.
