Seattle Volleyball Club hosts Thirst Seattle NAGVA Championships May 21-24

33rd Annual North American Gay Volleyball Association Championships to draw 1,500+ athletes and fans to Seattle this weekend Seattle Volleyball Club is hosting Thirst Seattle, the 33rd Annual North American Gay Volleyball Association (NAGVA) Championships, May 21st thru 24th at the CenturyLink Field Event Center (1000 Occidental Ave. S.). 136 teams from all over North America, and as far away as Puerto Rico and Hawaii, are meeting in Seattle to compete for the ultimate prize, the NAGVA Championship Trophy and bragging rights for the next year of competition.

A full week of camaraderie, competition and events are planned, with 1,500+ athletes and fans converging on Seattle to play volleyball, and to also dine, drink, shop, sightsee, and enjoy our diverse Seattle night life, all while vacationing here in our beautiful city. The weekend of events and competition officially kickoff May 21st, but many of the athletes will be arriving earlier as they begin their vacations in Seattle. The Seattle Westin is the official host hotel for Thirst Seattle, where we have over 1200 rooms booked with volleyball players enjoying their stay. The fantastic CenturyLink Field Event Center will play host to all tournament competition where 26 indoor volleyball courts will be assembled for 1,000+ volleyball games to be played across 3 days of play May 22nd, 23rd & 24th. All tournament activities and events conclude on May 24th when 4 Divisional Championship teams will be determined, and Seattle officially ends its hosted weekend, with the Quench Closing Show and Party at Neighbours, immediately following the Awards Banquet at the Seattle Westin Hotel.

In addition to the volleyball competition, there is a full schedule of evening and nightlife activities planned. From the Miss Thirst NAGVA 2015 Drag Pageant at R Place on Thursday night, to the Hot Jock contest Friday night at Diesel, and the GoGo Dancer contest at Purr Cocktail Lounge on Saturday night. Quench is this year's closing show and party at Neighbours on Sunday night, where the volleyball athletes will be celebrating the great accomplishments and camaraderie of this year's NAGVA Championships and Thirst Seattle.

Seattle Volleyball Club chose the word 'Thirst' as this year's theme, as it vehemently describes the Seattle LGBT volleyball population's drive to compete, while celebrating the close-knit and passionate community of friends and family that is Seattle Volleyball.

If you would like to catch some of the volleyball action, please join us at the CenturyLink Field Event Center on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 22-24, admission is free, and you will surely be impressed by the athleticism and competitive spirit of the NAGVA athletes.

For a complete Schedule of Events and more information, please visit ThirstSeattle.com and NAGVA.org.
