Madonna, Grande, AC/DC among first Grammy performers announced |
by Albert Rodriguez -

It's true. Make that, true blue. Madonna will perform on the Grammys telecast, as mentioned here in The Music Lounge a week ago. It hasn't been revealed yet what the pop icon will do, but it's guaranteed she'll pluck something out from her upcoming release Rebel Heart, of which six of the album's tracks are now available on iTunes. I reported incorrectly that Madonna has appeared on the awards show as a performer three times, when it's actually been four times, including last year's 'Same Love'/'Open Your Heart' mashup with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. Also scheduled to perform are Ariana Grande, AC/DC, Eric Church and Ed Sheeran. Not yet confirmed, though very likely to join them are Sia, Iggy Azalea, Sam Smith, and U2. The 57th Grammy Awards will be telecast from Los Angeles on February 8.
There's been a slight adjustment to Katy Perry's Super Bowl Halftime Show appearance. Lenny Kravitz has been added as a 'special guest' to the performance, set for February 1 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Perry made the announcement last weekend, stating that the veteran rocker is her first special guest, hinting that other collaborators could join the lineup. Stay glued for updates.
Personally, I'm not a fan of Jackie Evancho. She frightens me. I'm immediately reminded of children creepily harmonizing in the background of a horror movie whenever her music is played. But the teenage operatic vocalist is adored by many. If you're among her admirers, be sure to buy tickets to Evancho's October 18 concert at the Paramount Theatre, promoting her newest recording, 2014's Awakening. Tickets, priced between $35 and $85 (reserved seats, tax not included), go on sale January 17 (10 a.m.) at www.Tickets.com, or by phone at 1-877-STG-4TIX.
If you love the 80s, you might be interested in seeing Taylor Dayne live at Snoqualmie Casino. The Grammy-nominated artist, who has performed at numerous LGBT events during her career, will appear February 22, with special guest Ambrosia. Dayne landed on the music map in 1988 with four hit singles from her debut album Tell It to My Heart - 'Prove Your Love,' I'll Always Love You,' Don't Rush Me,' and the title track. Others followed, like 'With Every Beat of My Heart,' 'Love Will Lead You Back,' and 'Heart of Stone.' Pop group Ambrosia, meanwhile, enjoyed a successful run in the late '70s through early '80s with a string of smash singles, such as 'How Much I Feel,' 'Biggest Part of Me,' and 'You're the Only Woman (You & I).' For tickets, go to www.snocasino.com.
Finally, there's always something happening in the world of Macklemore. This week, he teamed up with Oscar the Grouch for an alternative, kid-friendly version of 'Thrift Shop' for 'Sesame Street.' Check it out on YouTube.
