Seattle Men in Leather's Boots & Buzzcuts event raises over $400

by Tim Moffett - SGN Staff Writer

For me, nothing says 'Leather Event' quite like a boot blacking and hair buzzing event. Such was the case on November 8, when Seattle Men in Leather (SML) hosted 'Boots & Buzzcuts' at the Cuff Complex.

Event participants and spectators were treated to the unequaled aroma of assorted leather soaps, conditioners and polish as well as the distinctive whir of hair clippers in the Cuff's main front bar area. Buzzcuts were done by Jason Farmer. Bootblack services were provided by Bootblack Paul and Washington State Bootblack Becca Bee.

Chris Kauffman, SML President, said, 'The event went very well. We had a good turnout despite the cold weather. The bootblacks and barber were kept busy, and we were having to turn people away by the end of the evening.'

This Boots and Buzzcuts event was organized by SML Director Chris Cooney with assistance from various SML members, and benefitted SMLs 2014 charity, Chicken Soup Brigade. The event raised over $400. SML extends their thanks to the generous support from the community, and to the owners, management, and staff of the Cuff Complex for again hosting this popular event.
