The Who, Billy Idol announce 2015 concerts in Seattle

by Albert Rodriguez - SGN A&E Writer

Legendary rock group The Who is coming to Key Arena next year. The iconic act, slimmed down to a duo - Pete Townshend and Roger Daltry - will appear September 27, 2015 in Seattle as part of its 50th anniversary celebration tour, which begins its North American leg in Tampa in mid-April. For tickets, visit www.axs.com. Another iconic rock star is trekking to the Emerald City in 2015, Billy Idol. The spiky-haired singer enjoyed the bulk of his success in the '80s with hits like 'White Wedding,' 'Rebel Yell,' 'Flesh for Fantasy,' and 'Eyes Without a Face.' Idol will perform February 13 at the Paramount Theatre. You can log on also to www.axs.com for ticket information.

So, you think you like boy bands? Then give Well-Strung a listen. The four-piece, all-male string ensemble is steadily gaining recognition for its catchy pop-classical renditions of today's biggest hits. The small ensemble is comprised of first violinist Edmund Bagnell, second violinist Christopher Marchant, cellist Daniel Shevlin, and violist Trevor Wadleigh. They've played to packed clubs in their native New York, as well as in London, San Francisco, New Orleans, and Provincetown, and are currently touring the country with an upcoming stop in Seattle. Wadleigh, by the way, is an area native who graduated from the University of Puget Sound. 'Rolling in the Deep,' 'Since U Been Gone,' 'Your Love is My Drug,' 'Toxic,' and 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' are just some of the songs Well-Strung has reworked with their own compositions. Well-Strung is set to perform November 8 at The Neptune. For tickets go to www.stgpresents.org. And, look for an interview with the quartet here in The Music Lounge on November 7.

Two local radio stations have announced their holiday show lineups, starting with 107.7 The End's 'Deck The Hall Ball.' The 2014 installment of the rock station's year-end concert features Imagine Dragons, Weezer, Cage the Elephant, Young the Giant, TV on the Radio, KONGOS, Vance Joy, and Royal Blood. The event takes place at Key Arena on December 9 with tickets available at www.axs.com. KISS 106.1 also revealed its roster for its 'Jingle Ball 2014' happening December 2 at WAMU Theater. Lil John, Afrojack, Fall Out Boy, Mary Lambert, Fences, Lindsey Stirling, and Rixton are all performing at the holiday-themed show. I wouldn't be surprised if Macklemore and Ryan Lewis make a guest appearance, seeing that they've collaborated with both Mary Lambert and Fences. Log onto www.kissfmseattle.com for ticket information.

For all you showtunes queens out there, and those without any Halloween plans, be near a TV set (or, remember to TIVO), a special performance by Michael Feinstein. PBS will air Michael Feinstein at the Rainbow Room on October 31, a tribute to the re-opened nostalgic venue in New York City that helped launch the careers of many artists. The show includes appearances by Cheyenne Jackson, Christine Ebersol, Jessica Sanchez, the Manzari Brothers, and Oscar-nominated actress June Squibb. Check local listings for airtime.

Finally, November 4 is the release date for It's the Girls!, the latest recording by Bette Midler. The album focuses on songs by famous female-led groups, such as the Ronettes, The Andrew Sisters, and The Marvellettes, to name a few. 'Be My Baby' is the leadoff single.
