Fleetwood Mac, New Order announce local show dates

by Albert Rodriguez - SGN A&E Writer

It's the return of the Mac. With Stevie Nicks. With Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. And, with Christine McVie! The whole gang is reunited once again for a tour that plops down at the Tacoma Dome on November 20. Fleetwood Mac, one of the most successful bands in history, is scheduled to perform a collection of hits from the late '60s to present date, possibly including 'Tusk,' 'Dreams,' 'Rhiannon,' 'Gypsy,' 'Go Your Own Way,' 'Second Hand News,' 'Big Love' and 'Don't Stop.' I could go on and on, but I'll wrap it up. The Mac played Key Arena last summer minus Christine McVie, so this is your opportunity to see the famed lineup in its entirety. Tickets are on sale now via Ticketmaster, or go to www.livenation.com.

Also making a Northwest appearance - and it's been ages since they've been through here - is legendary electronic act New Order. Before you get excited, the lineup doesn't include Peter Hook, who's coming to town by himself late in 2014. But, you will get Bernard Summer and Stephen Morris, joined by Phil Cunningham, Tom Chapman and Gillian Gilbert. The group is expected to unleash many fan favorites at the Paramount Theatre, where I saw them in 1989 promoting their Technique album. From 'Bizarre Love Triangle' to 'True Faith' to 'Blue Monday,' New Order fans are sure to get their money's worth when the band performs July 6 in Seattle, previously scheduled at The Gorge. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster, or log onto www.livenation.com.

When Grammy-winning trio Nickel Creek said adios to fans on their 'Farewell (For Now) Tour' seven years ago, they clearly intended for an eventual return. Well, good times are here again! The bluegrass-inspired three-piece released a new album this week entitled A Dotted Line and are supporting the record, their first since 2007, with a national tour that brings them to the Moore Theatre on May 17. I spoke with fiddle player-vocalist Sara Watkins by phone, who shared her memories of performing in Seattle and gave me some background info on A Dotted Line. Look for my interview with her in the May 9 issue of Seattle Gay News. For tickets, try either Paramount or Moore Theatre box offices, Ticketmaster or www.livenation.com.

As expected, the Lana Del Rey concert at WaMu Theater is apparently sold out. The Brit Award winner and Grammy nominee is making her initial North American outing since breaking through in 2012 with Born to Die. 'The Paradise Tour' delivers the torch singer to Seattle on May 27, her first-ever proper concert in the Emerald City; she appeared at a record store signing two years ago, but has not given fans here an actual performance. There are no tickets available at the moment, but check www.lanadelrey.com or www.livenation.com closer to the show date for the release of possible additional tickets.

Finally, don't forget to follow me and Seattle Gay News on Twitter for the latest music buzz. You'll find me at @seattlerocker and the SGN at @SGNMusic1. We'll do our best to post live pics from upcoming shows, such as Franz Ferdinand at The Showbox SoDo.
