Macklemore & Ryan Lewis add 3rd show, Pearl Jam and Jay Brannan announce Seattle concerts

by Albert Rodriguez - SGN A&E Writer

Quite remarkably, breakout stars Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have added a 3rd concert to their tour-ending appearance this winter at Key Arena. In addition to the sold out December 12 show and near-sold out December 11 gig, the Seattle rap duo will give a third performance on December 10. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are basking in international fame with a top-selling album, The Heist, smash singles ("Thrift Shop", "Can't Hold Us") and music videos viewed by the millions. They haven't given an in-city concert for about a year, appearing at the Sasquatch Festival two months ago, and the three back-to-back shows in Seattle are the final performances of an extensive tour. Tickets are on sale now at aeglive.com.

Another hometown act, Pearl Jam, is finally pleasing local fans with a tour-ending concert, also scheduled for Key Arena. The iconic rock band, led by Eddie Vedder, will play the sports venue on December 6. It's the first time in many years that they'll take the stage at home, although they've appeared in shows around the world. Vedder, however, did play Benaroya Hall by himself two years ago to promote his solo work, but he did place several Pearl Jam songs on his set list that night. The group's fall-winter itinerary has them visiting 21 cities, including Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Charlotte, Dallas, Spokane, and of course, Seattle. General public tickets go on sale July 27, though specific details weren't available at press time.

Not from the Emerald City, yet beloved by many here, is Jay Brannan. The talented singer-songwriter and "Shortbus" actor returns for an October 29 performance at the Tractor Tavern. He'll include songs from last year's release, Rob Me Blind, as well as tracks from 2009's In Living Color and 2008's Goddamned. In concert, he's not only a great entertainer, but he's very interactive and possesses a terrific sense of humor. Go to tractortavern.com for ticket information.
