Seattleites cheer the death of DOMA

To observe the June 26 Supreme Court ruling that Section 3 of DOMA is unconstitutional and that Prop 8 be dismissed, members of the Seattle-area LGBTQ and Allied communities came together to celebrate at the U.S. Court of Appeals. The program - co-sponsored by Social Outreach Seattle (SOSea), Equal Rights Washington (ERW), American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Human Rights Campaign (HRC), Lambda Legal, Legal Voice, QLaw, Greater Seattle Business Association (GSBA), and Pride Foundation - was a celebration of the historic win for LGBTQ equality. Speakers included Anne Levinson, Sen. Ed Murray, Rep. Jamie Pedersen, Liezl Tomas Rebugio (ACLU), Kris Hermanns (Pride Foundation), Josh Friedes (ERW), Lacey All (HRC), Shaun Knittel (SOSea), Jason Holloway (QLaw), and Lisa Stone (Legal Voice). Chase Silva, from SOSea, sang the National Anthem.
