Queer Femme Art Cabaret during Pride Month

by Pidgeon Von Tramp - Special to the SGN

Pride month is upon us and we can't wait to take to the streets to check out our fellow Homos in sequined short shorts and feather boas support our Trans family at the Trans March, go topless at the Dyke march, get our parade on, and dance the night away while strategically avoiding all of our exes. But let's not forget to leave room on our dance cards for some community fundraising and live art! Here are some upcoming events that support our community while providing amazing entertainment.

FEMMETASIA
Start off the month with Femmetasia at the Re-Bar (1114 Howell St.) on Friday, June 7 at 8 p.m. From Pidgeon Coop Productions, Femmetasia is a cabaret of Queer Femme art. The show includes burlesque, spoken word, film, drag, and circus arts. Proceeds go to the Femme Collective. Tickets: $12 general admission; $50 table for 3, first row.? 21+. www.brownpapertickets.com/event/374987.

DYKESTRAVAGANZA
Next up, Friday, June 14, join Lily Divine Productions (LDP) at the Rendezvous Jewelbox Theater (2322 2nd Ave.) for Dykestravaganza - a sexy, raucous, glittery tribute to the Dyke March! Dykestravaganza will feature two unique shows - at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. These shows are full of hilarity - tackling Dyke culture from Ani DiFranco to the Golden Girls and everything in between. Proceeds from both shows benefit this year's Seattle Dyke March. Tickets: $20 either show or $25 both shows, with a limited number of pay-what-you-can tickets. 21+.

DEBAUCHERY
The next week, head to Neighbours (1509 Broadway) on Thursday, June 21, for Debauchery. Debauchery is LDP's monthly queer strip event. Held the third Thursday of every month, Debauchery is 'Queers stripping for queers in hot, anti-oppressive space, raising funds for organizations serving our community.' This show features queers of all genders, as well as lots of audience participation - including birthday lap dances onstage! Proceeds from these shows are granted to community organizations, $500 at a time. To date, LDP has granted over $5,000 to local organizations that include Queering the Museum, Ingersoll Gender Center, Queer Youth Space, and The Northwest Network of Bi, Trans, Lesbian, and Gay Survivors of Abuse.

And, if you didn't get enough the first round, don't miss the second opportunity to attend Debauchery's Pride Show. The regularly scheduled show is on Thursday, June 20 - this show marks the group's two-year anniversary in Seattle. LDP has also scheduled an extra show to kick off Pride Weekend on Thursday, June 27. See both shows for just $10 by purchasing your tickets in advance at www.lilydivine.com/debauchery. 21+.

Don't forget to check out Queer Youth Space's calendar for some all ages fun at queeryouthspace.org/events/calendar/
Hope to see you all in that rainbow finery!

With glittery kisses,

Lily and Pidge
