Hungry for a better world? - Dine out on April 25 to benefit Lifelong AIDS Alliance

by James Whitely - SGN Staff Writer

On Thursday, April 25, Lifelong Aids Alliance will hold its 20th annual 'Dining Out for Life' fundraiser. More than 120 Seattle restaurants will be participating this year, including dozens on Capitol Hill. Last year, Dining Out for Life raised more than $200,000 for Lifelong's many projects that support people living with HIV/AIDS.

Here's how it works: When you dine at any of the participating restaurants on April 25, the restaurant will donate a portion of your bill to Lifelong. That's all there is to it! Most restaurants are donating 30% of each check.

'Dining Out for Life is the perfect excuse to grab dinner with friends and family, plan on lunch with colleagues, or simply grab a coffee on your way to work,' Lifelong officials said.

BE AN AMBASSADOR!
Lifelong is also looking for 'Restaurant Ambassadors.' These volunteers are assigned to a particular restaurant, which they promote to their friends, family, and co-workers in an effort to maximize that restaurant's patronage on April 25. On the day of the event, Ambassadors will welcome guests at the restaurant, answer any questions, and collect additional donations.

'It's a very big deal that we're celebrating 20 years. I think that it really speaks to how supportive Seattle is to Lifelong and those living with HIV,' said Kelly Bray, Lifelong's communications manager. 'It's really embraced here& it's a really significant event for us.'

ABOUT LIFELONG
Lifelong AIDS Alliance empowers people living with or at risk of HIV/AIDS and other chronic conditions to lead healthier lives. One of its most recognizable programs, the Chicken Soup Brigade, provides food (including pet food for those with animal companions) to King County residents living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic conditions. In 2011, Chicken Soup Brigade filled 38,049 grocery bags and served 157,675 meals.

Dine out and fight HIV/AIDS on April 25. For more information or to volunteer, visit www.llaa.org. For a list of participating restaurants, visit www.diningoutforlife.com/seattle/restaurants.
