Love is on the air - Jenna and Stephanie are TV's new Lesbian power couple

by James Whitely - SGN Staff Writer

NBC News correspondent and Weekend Today anchor Jenna Wolfe came out as a Lesbian this week on national TV, announcing that she and her partner, fellow NBC News correspondent Stephanie Gosk, are expecting a child together.

'I have some big news - this is actually big for me. I'm actually pregnant. I'm quite pregnant, in fact. My girlfriend Stephanie Gosk, who works here also at NBC, we're expecting a baby girl at the end of August,' Wolfe told Today host Matt Lauer on March 27. 'Stephanie's extremely adventurous, she's been all over the world. And you know me, there's not a building I haven't jumped off of. So for us, this is nothing like that. This is the adventure of a lifetime.'

'This is the most exciting thing that has ever happened to us,' Wolfe told People magazine in an exclusive interview. 'But I don't want to bring my daughter into a world where I'm not comfortable telling everyone who I am and who her mother is.'

Wolfe, 39, and Gosk, 40, are already being called NBC's 'Lesbian power couple.'

The two have been together for three years but say that their schedules have made starting a family difficult. Gosk, as a foreign correspondent for the network, travels frequently.

'The beauty is that we live in a time where there's no need for secrecy,' said Gosk. 'This is a spectacular moment for us.'

'I think if you're not who you are, you're going to have a hard time explaining to your kid why it's OK to wake up every day and walk out into the world proud of who they are,' Wolfe told the E! cable channel.

WEDDING BELLS IN FUTURE?
Wolfe, who is carrying the child, underwent artificial insemination with an anonymous donor.

'We 'rock-paper-scissored' it,' said Wolfe.

'She [the baby] made the first four months brutal for me & B-R-U-T-A-L,' Wolfe wrote in her first blog post about her pregnancy. 'There were days when all I could eat were Saltine crackers, Apple Jacks dry cereal, and plain pasta. Let's just say I have a newfound respect for any woman anywhere who tells me they've experienced morning sickness.'

Gosk and Wolfe said they intend to marry, but for now the child is their first priority, especially given their busy schedules.

'We were constantly on the road, juggling a thousand balls at once,' Wolfe said. 'It's a miracle we got it all together. In a way, we can't wait to start - Stephanie keeps saying, 'Hurry up! What's taking so long?' And I'm like, '[The baby's] cooking!'

Wolfe, who is due August 27, said that she'll be blogging about her pregnancy.

'I know I'm not the first person to have a baby, but I'm having a baby for the first time,' said Wolfe. 'This is a journey that I'm very excited to take.'
