A BANNER YEAR FOR LGBT RIGHTS
I can't recall such a premier issue of the Seattle Gay News in a long time, with the 'Victory' headline in the Nov. 9 issue.

We have returned the rights to Gay men and women, not only in Seattle and Washington state, but in many other states.

R-74 brings back the rights of couples with the security of more than registered partnerships in that their personal rights such as their estates, powers of attorney, etc., will be upheld.

The rights of women will be upheld, despite religious nutcases and others who literally would have women wearing burqas or long dresses and following behind men. Their right to choose what they wish in abortion rights will be stronger. There are now 20 women in Congress. We can hope the working wage for women will finally equal men.

In my 85 years of being youth-challenged, beginning with my vote for Franklin Roosevelt in 1944, with his beginning Social Security and many other social venues, 2012 is the banner year for we, the middle class.

I am pleased the Seattle Gay News trumpeted all these victories so well.

FREE BREAST EXAMS
The YWCA Women's Health Outreach, in collaboration with Swedish Hospital's mobile mammogram coach, are conducting a no-cost mammogram & Pap test screening at the Wildrose on Seattle's Capitol Hill on Saturday, December 8, from 9 a.m. to 3p.m.

You are eligible if you are 40 or over, have limited income, are uninsured or underinsured, have not had a mammogram in two years or more, are high-risk, or are new to the Breast Cervical and Colon Health program.

If you are over 50 we have a special holiday offering of a voucher for a free shopping spree at the YWCA's Working Wardrobe!

People with insurance are also very welcome to get their mammogram with us!

We thank the Wildrose Tavern, for their generous offering of their space, Swedish, our provider Beth Kruse, and Public Health Seattle-King County for making this Queer-friendly screening possible again!
