Scissor Sisters announce Paramount show, Sinead cancels

by Albert Rodriguez - SGN A&E Writer

By the time you read this, tickets for Scissor Sisters might all be gone. The glam-pop band announced an upcoming concert at the Paramount Theatre this summer, three days before Pride weekend to be exact, and general public tickets went on sale Friday morning, April 27. The group, led by the equally sassy and sexy Jake Shears, will release their newest album, Magic Hour, on May 29 with the first single called 'Only the Horses.' Scissor Sisters collaborated with Calvin Harris, Pharrell Williams, Diplo, and Stuart Price on the forthcoming CD. If they're still available, tickets for Scissor Sisters on June 19 can be purchased by going to www.stgpresents.org.

Sinead O'Connor has done it again. An amazing singer-songwriter also known for being just plain weird (she was married for like a minute, literally), the Irish rocker has canceled her entire tour to seek help with something or other. O'Connor, whose international singles 'Nothing Compares 2 U' and 'Mandinka' were two of the very best songs of the late '80s/early '90s, was to have performed here in Seattle on July 24. This isn't the first time she's canceled a series of live tour dates, and fans have often become agitated with her rollercoaster drama. Visit www.stgpresents.org for ticket refund information.

Neko Case, The Lumineers, Grimes, Aesop Rock, and Major Lazer are four acts booked for the Capitol Hill Block Party, scheduled for July 20-22. The rest of the lineup should be announced in the following weeks, but if you like what you already see, then buy your three-day pass now ($94.25 w/ fees included) at www.capitolhillblockparty.strangertickets.com.

The full roster of Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery performers is out. Among this year's acts for the summer concert series are Blondie and Devo, who'll co-headline on September 7, while Bonnie Raitt and special guest Mavis Staples are slated for two nights, September 8 and 9. Also, boogie down with Earth, Wind & Fire on July 20, and re-visit the 80s with Huey Lewis and the News on September 16. View the whole lineup at www.wineryconcerts.com.

Finally, nearby Cedarbrook Lodge (www.Cedarbrooklodge.com) launches its inaugural 'Jazz on the Lawn' live concert series this summer. Pearl Django opens the special performance itinerary on July 6, proceeded by Downtown Mountain Boys (July 20), Sonando (August 3), Human Spirit (August 17), and Michael Gullo (August 31). Most of the artists are within the jazz realm, although Downtown Mountain Boys are a bluegrass ensemble. Cedarbrook Lodge is an award-winning hotel about 15 minutes from downtown Seattle, en route to the airport. Log onto the website for more information.
