Oscar Party starts at 4 p.m. at Purr
by Albert Rodriguez - SGN A&E Writer

The time has come. A night that awards enthusiasts wait all year for. A night that, win or lose, we rally behind Meryl Streep simply because she's Meryl Streep. A night when we realize that our taste in movies isn't as good as initially thought (yes, I watched The Hangover 2 twice).

Oscar Sunday is upon us. And on the West Coast, it's an afternoon affair. Seattle Gay News and Purr are once again hosting a laid back, yet very festive, Academy Awards bash this weekend and it all begins at 4pm, so don't sleep in too late. For good seats and an opportunity to watch the red carpet arrivals, plan on getting to Purr (1518 11th Avenue) around 4pm or sooner. The event is entirely free, right down to the prizes that include brand new Blu-ray discs, music CDs, gift certificates, 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' books, 'Moneyball' and 'Ides of March' T-shirts, and 'The Descendants' throw blankets. Ballots should be filled out prior to the start of the Oscars telcast.

Bring yourself, invite who you want (21+), and plan on having dinner at Purr with many other Academy Awards onlookers. Purr will be offering drink specials throughout the afternoon and evening. It's Oscar Sunday, you've got to!
