Gaga, J-Lo, Coldplay playing Vegas festival in September

by Albert Rodriguez - SGN A&E Writer

Wanna see Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Coldplay, Nicki Minaj, The Black Eyed Peas, Bruno Mars, Carrie Underwood, Sting, and Jane's Addiction - oh, and Usher, Rascal Flatts, David Guetta, Kenny Chesney, Alicia Keys, and Steven Tyler on the same stage on the same weekend? It's only happening in Vegas, baby. The inaugural iHeartRadio Festival, hosted by Ryan Seacrest, takes place September 23 and 24 at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino. Did anybody else just wet themselves reading that artist lineup?

The Seattle Tattoo Expo will gather tattoo artists and ink fanatics from around the world, including Peru, Germany, Norway, Argentina, and from throughout the United States. Musical entertainment will be provided by The Fucking Eagles and Steel Tigers of Death (August 11, Neumos), The Sword with special guests (August 12, Neumos), and High on Fire with Lesbian and Deadkill (August 13, Neumos). The Seattle Tattoo Expo is scheduled for August 12-14 at Seattle Center.

Moby, an electronic music pioneer, will return to Seattle for a DJ set at this year's Decibel Festival. The exact date and venue has not been revealed, although another festival act has already been announced: Ladytron will play the Paramount Theatre on September 29. Visit www.dbfestival.com for the latest buzz.

Portishead rarely tours, reason enough to see them here in Seattle. The English trio, which sometimes tours with a fourth member, have announced a live performance at WaMu Theater on October 23.

You snooze, you lose. These shows are sold out: Queens of the Stone Age at The Showbox Market (July 31), and both Brandi Carlile concerts at Woodland Park Zoo (July 29, August 24).

Next week, Chuck Panozzo is my special guest in The Music Lounge. An original member of the '70s-'80s band Styx, Panozzo is openly Gay, HIV-positive, and has been actively involved in raising awareness for LGBT rights. Styx performs July 29 at Chateau Ste. Michelle with Yes.
