posted Friday, July 1, 2011 - Volume 39 Issue 26 Judas Priest and Erasure coming in Octoberby Albert Rodriguez - SGN A&E Writer A pair of well-known Gay musicians have announced upcoming Seattle shows. Grammy-winning heavy metal band Judas Priest, led by the out and proud Rob Halford, will play WaMu Theater on October 29. The 'Epitaph' tour is the band's final road outing, capping a four-decade career. Very Gay electronic-pop duo Erasure are also headed to Seattle, slated to perform at the restored Neptune on October 6. Visit www.wamutheater.com for Judas Priest ticket information and www.stgpresents.org for Erasure ticket details. Get your Viking on at this year's Ballard Seafood Festival (www.seafoodfest.org), taking place July 9 (11 a.m. to 9 p.m.) and 10 (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.) in various sections of the host neighborhood. Musical entertainment will be provided by Star Anna & the Laughing Dogs, Duffy Bishop, DJ Riz, and The Moondoggies, who interviewed here in The Music Lounge a year ago. Admission for the annual event is free, and there will be numerous food vendors selling everything from oyster po' boy sandwiches to roasted corn on the cob. For directions, use 2208 NW Market Street as a guide for Mapquest or GPS systems. There are no really big names this year at Bumbershoot (September 3-5), though a healthy crop of newer artists are peppered throughout the lineup. The daily schedule has now been posted on the festival's website, and things kick off beautifully with Ray LaMontagne and the Pariah Dogs, Mavis Staples, and STRFKR slated for Saturday, while The Kills, Wiz Khalifa, and Broken Social Scene are locked in for Sunday, plus Big Boi, Daryl Hall and John Oates, and Urge Overkill play on Monday. Visit www.bumbershoot.org for ticket information and artist bios. Not quite Gay, but definitely worth the admission is Justin Townes Earle. Son of folk legend Steve Earle, the young singer-songwriter is responsible for one of 2010's best recordings, Harlem River Blues, and he makes his way to Showbox at the Market on October 7 with Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit. An interview with this somewhat bad boy - arrested for battery and public drunkeness last fall - is in the works. Adele, at last. The two-time Grammy winner has rescheduled her previously canceled show for August 12 at the Paramount Theatre. Hallelujah! Tickets for the canceled June 1 performance will be honored. This concert is sold out. |
