Coors Brewing Company receives perfect score on HRC's Corporate Equality Index for second year in a row
"At Coors, we know our differences strengthen us as a company. That same respect extends to the many communities with whom we do business," said Frits van Paasschen.

For the second year in a row, the Coors Brewing Company has received a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation "Corporate Equality Index" which evaluates how major U.S. corporations treat their gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employees, consumers and investors.

Researchers at HRC's Foundation - America's largest gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender organization - assessed corporate performance on criteria including non-discriminatory employment policies, same-sex domestic partner insurance, GLBT employee resource groups, diversity training, marketing, and corporate social responsibility.

"We are honored to receive a score of 100 percent for the second year in a row on the HRC Foundation's Corporate Equality Index," said Frits van Paasschen, president and chief executive officer for Coors Brewing Company. "At Coors, we know our differences strengthen us as a company. That same respect extends to the many communities with whom we do business."

Since it was launched in 2002, the Corporate Equality Index has become the standard by which companies are measured in regard to GLBT diversity and inclusion. In 2004 and 2005, Coors received a perfect score of 100 on the report card. In 2002 and 2003, Coors was ranked as "exceeding expectations" with a score of 86.

This recognition reflects Coors Brewing Company's leadership in corporate diversity and community relations. In 1978, Coors was one of the first major corporations and the first in the alcohol beverage industry to institute a non-discrimination policy that protects employees regardless of sexual orientation. In 1995, Coors became the first brewer to offer same-sex partner benefits. Annually, Coors supports a wide range of health and AIDS causes, community groups and pride events nationwide.

Coors Brewing Company is one of more than 40 companies that scored 100 percent on the Corporate Equality Index participating in this year's Out & Equal Workplace Summit in Denver. Beginning September 22, Coors will join with more than 850 GLBT employees, human resources and diversity professionals for a program focused on "Taking Workplace Equality to New Heights."
