Gay City's Eden party a huge success

On Thursday, August 26, about 100 people gathered in Seattle's Blueridge Neighborhood for Gay City Health Project's Eden garden party. The party, which took place at a private residence just south of Seattle's Carkeek Park, lent a spectacular view of the Puget Sound to a well-coordinated and enjoyable night of fundraising and community.

Eden raised nearly $8,000 for Gay City.

"We were really delighted with the number of people that turned out. & Even the weather cooperated," said Gay City's deputy director, Peter Jabin.

Free hors d'oeuvres and cocktails were offered to guests as they chatted with friends, bid on silent auction items, and bought raffle tickets from Gay City's four "flower boys."

Staff members from Gay City Health Project gave short speeches on their experiences working for Gay City, the personal growth that it's granted them, and why an organization like Gay City is necessary and relevant.

Eden is an annual fundraiser held by Gay City Health Project. According to Jabin, Eden is now in its seventh year. The party was sponsored by Cupcake Royale, Great Western Travel and Cruise, Panevino Wines, and Julia's Restaurants, as well as many other local businesses.

Gay City and Great Western Travel and Cruise also announced a partnership wherein anyone that books their vacation through Gay City Travel Club and GW Travel, a donation is made in your name to Gay City.
