Sisters thrash Quake Rugby in fundraiser beatdown

by James Whitely - SGN Staff Writer

On Saturday, August 14, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, The Abbey of St. Joan (Seattle) and The Order of Benevolent Bliss (Portland) took on the Seattle-based Quake Rugby team in a kickball game to raise funds for the Capitol Hill Alano Club (1900 E. Madison St.). This was the last fundraiser to be held for CHAC's 2010 "Staying Alive" fundraising campaign. The game raised $1,700 for CHAC. In addition, the Abbey of St. Joan gave CHAC a special $500 award from their charity fund, and Quake Rugby donated another $200.

The Sisters won the game easily - almost too easily - with a score of 79-13.

"There wasn't a score & well, there was a score. It was made up, though," said Sister Karma Za Betch, a sister from the Abbey who spearheaded the organization of the event. "We cheated, I can tell you right now. I walked up and changed the numbers."

The Sisters' team was made up of approximately 15 Abbey Sisters and 10 Order Sisters. Quake's 30 players were broken down into two teams.

According to Sister Karma, Sister Dixie Rupt of the Order of Benevolent Bliss and Sister Rolanda Kahndom of the Abbey of St. Joan were the stars of the game for the Sisters' team. Quake player Jeff Wilson scored the most points for the Quake team.

The game was hosted and announced by local queen Lily Armani (of La Femme Magnifique).

"Every stereotype was broken, and Lily rocked it," said Sister Karma. "Lily was a phenomenal emcee; she had no issue ripping the clothes off the rugby guys."

The 2010 Seattle Leather Daddy and Leather Boy served as referee and scorekeeper, respectively.

Most notable among the many generous donations was a special donation from bartender Danny of C.C. Attle's, who forced Sister Karma to lose her face by rubbing it roughly against the toned body of a very lenient Quake Rugby player.

As of press time, the Capitol Hill Alano Club has raised $29,223, exceeding their $15,000 goal.
