DISH! variety show benefit
March 14
Vera Project

On Sunday March 14, Dual Power Productions presented DISH!, an all-ages Queer variety show at the Vera Project in Seattle Center. The fabulous variety show featured the glamorous emcees Sister Stella Standing (aka Sister Alysa Trailer) and Sister Daya Reckoning of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Abbey of St. Joan.

The show had everything from drag kings to drag queens, burlesque to boylesque, and comedy to poetry. DISH! served as a benefit for the film Heart Breaks Open and the Lifelong AIDS Alliance.

Performers included Gay Bingo's Aleksa Manila, R Place Lashes stars Lady Chablis and Sharon Huzbenz, the wonderful Mark "Mom" Finley, who took the audience for a ride down memory lane with his song and comedy, and Sisters Babylon Anon, VixXxen, and Daya Reckoning.

Other performers included Ilvs Strauss, Paris Original, Angel Itenchi, Belinda Carroll, David Coppafeel, EmpeROAR Fabulous!!!, Pigeon Von Tramp, Miss Cherry Tart, and The Bearded Lady J.

Heart Breaks Open is a feature film about Jesus, who finds his voice after being diagnosed as HIV-positive. The locally based film details a story of public health and community accountability. It features the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Abbey of St. Joan and a cast of local actors who use real Seattle locations and real experiences to tell their story. The entirety of the film is shot like a documentary; actors improvise scenes in real places while cameras follow the action in cinéma vérité style.

The variety show and its audience were filmed for Heart Breaks Open, and the footage will be incorporated into the film.
