posted Friday, November 27, 2009 - Volume 37 Issue 48 Project Pie to benefit Lifelong AIDS Allianceby Shaun Knittel - SGN Staff Writer Project Pie, the Lifelong AIDS Alliance holiday bake sale, was a resounding success this year as dozens of Northwest bakers, chefs and caterers donated 1,200 pies to the cause. The bakers lent their time, talent and resources to provide pies, with proceeds benefiting clients of Chicken Soup Brigade and Lifelong AIDS Alliance. Each pie is $25, with apple, pecan, pumpkin and sweet potato as pie options. In addition to individual and business orders, Seattle residents could place a pie order for a Lifelong AIDS Alliance and Chicken Soup Brigade client. Project Pie says there goal, each year, is to place a pie on every client's table for the Thanksgiving Holiday. This year's Baker's Circle Level pie donors were Mama Sortini's Restaurant & Bar and Plush Pippin Pies, who baked 500 and 400 pies respectively. Additional organizations that helped with the cause were Costco Wholesale, Olympic Peninsula EMP, Crowne Plaza, Cameron Catering, Renaissance Hotel Seattle, Kaspar's Special Events & Catering, Macrina Bakery, Mercer Island Solemates, Stanford's Restaurant, and Wolfgang Puck Catering. For more information regarding Project Pie, or to place an order for next year's charity drive, visit the organization online at www.projectpie.org or by email at projectpie@llaa.org. Lifelong AIDS Alliance is committed to preventing the spread of HIV, and to providing practical support services and advocacy for those whose lives are affected by HIV and AIDS. Lifelong AIDS Alliance is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. |
