posted Friday, September 18, 2009 - Volume 37 Issue 38 John R. Miller, 1949-2009John R. Miller passed away peacefully in his Shoreline home September 5. John was born in Rhode Island, grew up in Alabama and went on to join the Navy in 1977 after achieving a black belt in Korean Kido. After John got out of the Navy he moved to Seattle, where he met the love of his life, Peter Lindsay, and they were later married in their home. John was known as a hard and dedicated worker as a cable installer/engineer at TCI, a relief mate at Cruise West and most recently as an Able-Bodied Seaman with the Washington Ferry System. John was a very spiritual person. He hosted a weekly meditation group focused on ending war and poverty. John will be most remembered for his love of sailing and his volunteer time aboard the historic Schooner Zodiac. John was predeceased by Peter Lindsey and is survived by his many, many friends especially CaraLee Cook, Mike and Tracy Marconi, Cathy Mepham, and his goddaughter Echo Rowe. His ashes will be spread off the Schooner Zodiac. |
