Protesters promise political pressure to curb cops - protest a police raid on a gay nightclub
By Steve Visser and Mashaun D. Simon
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Downpour didnt dampen the anger of about 60 demonstrators who stood under umbrellas on the steps of an empty Atlanta City Hall on Saturday to protest a police raid on a gay nightclub.

'We were mugged by the police,' said Mike Alvear, 50, of Midtown, a community activist and the host of HBOs The Sex Inspectors. 'They stole our dignity the same way crooks steal our wallets.'

Danni Lynn Harris, the Police Departments liaison to the gay community, asked the crowd to let the internal affairs unit investigate the Sept. 10 raid of Atlanta Eagle on Ponce de Leon Avenue.
