Rustic Sunday Supper
Fundraiser
August 16
Chicken Soup Brigade
Warehouse
On August 16, Lifelong AIDS Alliance hosted a 'Rustic Sunday Supper' benefit from 6-11 p.m. at the Chicken Soup Brigade warehouse. The event raised over $3,000, with all proceeds going directly to the Lifelong AIDS Alliance client services and programs.
'We're ecstatic over the success of the dinner party,' said Lifelong AIDS Alliance Executive Director David Richart. 'It is a true showing of the community's support of Lifelong and our clients' welfare in these tough times.'
Lifelong AIDS Alliance officials and volunteers transformed the warehouse into a unique, beautiful dinner hall where, for $75 per person, guests enjoyed a delicious seasonal feast featuring the finest Pacific Northwest ingredients and wines.
Upon entering the warehouse-turned-café, guests were offered champagne and hors d'oeuvres. The social setting was a delight as guests mingled and got to know one another, which proved helpful when choosing a seat because each party chose their own arrangement. Groups of four and five tables were set up throughout the warehouse. The attire ranged from suit and tie to jeans and a T-shirt.
The menu, prepared by Chicken Soup Brigade chef Jim Watkins, was topnotch. As a starter, Watkins prepared a Vashon Island goat cheese tart with miniature heirloom tomatoes. Guests then chose between pan-roasted sea scallops with watercress and rhubarb vinaigrette, or crab cakes. The main courses - Anderson Farms rack of lamb with Shiraz honey demi-glace, and seared halibut with sweet pea sauce - were both served with mashed potatoes and sautéed seasonal vegetables. Following the main course was a salad of garden-fresh greens with candied pumpkin seeds and Point Reyes blue cheese. For dessert, guests were served a light summer berry brûlée. Watkins also prepared seasonal vegetarian meals upon request.
Lifelong AIDS Alliance officials say the Rustic Sunday Supper is something they plan to host on a regular basis.
