CARSON KRESSLEY KEEPS TALKING
Carson Kressley, the chatty host of How To Look Good Naked, is about to go where lots of others have gone before and failed. Details are sketchy, and there's no title yet, but Kressley is on track to host his own talk show for Lifetime. And what makes Lifetime think Kressley can beat the odds? That would be the man himself. Kressley's secret weapon has never been his fashion sense or his flamboyant sense of humor. Though he has plenty of both, it's the former Queer Eye for the Straight Guy star's warmth and humanism that's at the root of his latest show's success. Naked, the rare nonsadistic makeover program, has the magical Oprah Winfrey-like quality of making viewers go "aww" and feel good about themselves when it's over. Translate that power to a five-times-weekly talk show, and watch Kressley become even more of a household name.

WICKED TO TURN SCREENS GREEN
Wanted producer Marc Platt has taken the first steps toward making a film version of the Broadway musical Wicked. But don't get too excited too quickly. The producer is already working on Wanted 2 and has a deal set up to remake the 1973 film Jesus Christ Superstar. But with the big screen success of Chicago, Hairspray, and now Mamma Mia, it was inevitable that the hugely successful Wicked would eventually make it at least to this stage of studio development. As for the thematically Queer show (for those under a rock: the Wicked Witch of the West gets some sympathy in this one) and its legion of Gay (and Gay-adjacent) superfans, the newsgroups are already buzzing with hopeful casting wishes. Start those Kristin Chenoweth online petitions now!

GREG BERLANTI'S NEXT TV STEP: VIRTUALITY
Are you watching Brothers and Sisters? You should be. It's that underrated network show with what may be the most sober, smart-person-friendly depiction of a Gay character on television at the moment. And that's in no small part thanks to Gay executive producer/writer Greg Berlanti's influence. So it's hope-inspiring news that the behind-the-scenes guy is also at work with director Peter Berg (Hancock) on a new pilot titled Virtuality. No details yet about plot, cast, or even if anyone besides the creators are interested in getting it on the air. But in a recent statement, Berlanti described his vision of the show as featuring a more true-to-life Gay couple than any that's been seen on TV to date. Sounds good so far. Now to wait for the virtuality to turn into reality.

AND KATE HUDSON MAKES NINE
By this point in the production, after updates, updates, and more updates, you could be forgiven for assuming that Rob Marshall's film version of the Broadway musical Nine was already in the can and headed for a multiplex near you. But no, they're still adding cast members. The latest A-lister to lend a singing voice? Kate Hudson, who joins Nicole Kidman, Daniel Day-Lewis, Penelope Cruz, Judi Dench, recent Oscar-winner Marion Cotillard, and the legendary Sophia Loren in the musical retelling of Fellini's 8 ½. And with a release date of Christmas 2009, this sort of credit-updating could, theoretically, go on for quite a while. Who's next? Mike Myers? One of the High School Musical kids? Eddie Murphy in a latex fat suit? The speculation-as-party-game possibilities are endless.
