CREATION Project Showcase
Broadway Performance Hall
May 16-17

Want to celebrate the sun returning to Seattle (at least if you believe one weathercaster's prediction for this weekend) and get a mind full of culture at the same time? Then head over to the Broadway Performance Hall on either Friday or Saturday evening (8 p.m.) for a night of dance, spoken word and theatre by three of the area's foremost African-American artists, who are part of the CD Forum's CREATION Project Showcase.

The culmination of the first yearlong new works and development program, created by the Central District Forum, created to give audiences a chance to support and experience new work by African-American artist, this should be a splendid evening. Friday's program presents work by dancer Vania Bynum, spoken word by Christa Bell (who was also a slam poetry finalist, representing Seattle in a national challenge several years ago), and a new theatre piece by Gin Hammond.

Saturday's evening presents three different performers doing new work, so either night you win, and get to see some undoubtedly great work by African-American artists. And with theatre space disappearing in Seattle of late, this is a great chance to support an effort to showcase and keep new talent here, particularly African-American talent.
