Book-It Repertory stages Jane Austen's Persuasion
FEBRUARY 8 - MARCH 2
CENTER HOUSE THEATRE
$15 - $32, $40 OPENING-NIGHT
TICKETS WITH AFTER-SHOW PARTY

Anne Elliot, heroine of Jane Austen's last novel, did something we can all relate to: Long ago, she let the love of her life get away. Persuaded by a trusted family friend that the young man she loved was an "improper" match, having no fortune, ancestry, nor prospects, she rejected him. Now, seven years later, a successful navy officer, Captain Wentworth re-enters her life, giving Anne a second chance to prove her unwavering love.

Pitting desire against convention, Persuasion cuts straight to the heart of the social and gender issues of early 19th century England. Written in an era of turbulent change - the Napoleonic Wars had just ended - Persuasion examines how a woman can remain faithful to her past and still move forward into the future.

Persuasion is adapted by Jen Taylor and Colin Byrne and directed by Myra Platt.

The show runs from February 8 through March 2, 2008 with two pay-what-you-will previews on February 5 and 6 and an $18 preview on February 7. Show times are Wednesday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. (except February 13) and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. (except February 9 and 16). Tickets are $40 (opening night only, includes show and after-show party), $32 (Friday and Saturday evening), $29 (Saturday and Sunday matinees), $25 (Wednesday and Thursday evening), $22 (seniors) and $15 (students).
