Velocity Dance Center presents The Bridge Project
THE BRIDGE PROJECT
VELOCITY MAINSPACE THEATER
915 E. PINE, 2ND FLOOR
JANUARY 25-27, 8 PM
$15

Velocity Dance Center has commissioned three of Seattle's freshest choreographers/choreographic teams to create new dances for the 9th year of The Bridge Project. The pressure is on as the choreographers are in residence with a cast of dancers to create a brand new work in three weeks - resulting in one amazing show presented for three nights only: January 25, 26 and 27 at 8 p.m. The Bridge Project reveals new work by choreographers Kristina Dillard, Kelly Sullivan, and Violette Tucker and Misha Kaschock. The choreographic advisor for The Bridge Project is Velocity's 2008 Choreographer in Residence, Mary Sheldon Scott, and lighting design is by Ben Zamora.

Talented newcomer Kelly Sullivan's dance "nän aàr. ee. ém" explores how dreams affect the perceptions of reality and how daily life affects dreams. An original music composition by Anna Arvan and Nico Lund supports the magnified moments between these shifting realities for a sextet of dancers. "Devi Avatars" by Kristina Dillard of Big Red Dance fame, delves into the beauty of individual sensuality, perfumed with the essence of East India. Kristina has collaborated with a video animator and DJ to accentuate this lush dance. In "THE TEST PILOTS' SAFETY TEAM PERFORMS ACTION BASICS," music/movement duo Violette Tucker & Misha Kaschock of The Test Pilots present a mixed tape of dance as the performers are put through the task of moving from disparate actions to cohesion. The Bridge Project continues to be a prolific Velocity program that brings new works to Seattle 's dance audiences and new opportunities to the choreographers and dancers. Don't miss this chance to see what inventive choreographers can do with a talented cast in just three weeks!
