Sandra Locklear and Inner Circle perform January in Bellevue
SANDRA LOCKLEAR AND INNER CIRCLE
JANUARY 4, 13 AND 27
VERTIGO LOUNGE AND GRILL,
TWISTED CORK WINE BAR,
BELLEVUE

Three of the Pacific Northwest's most successful jazz artists are bringing their collective talents to the stage in a powerhouse collaboration, Sandra Locklear and Inner Circle.

Led by Sandra Locklear and featuring Susan Pascal on vibraphones and Doug Miller on bass, the trio will play jazz standards, some holiday music and Locklear's original compositions through the end of January at two different locations in Bellevue. Performances are from 6 to 9 p.m. at Vertigo Lounge & Grill on Friday, January 4 and the Twisted Cork Wine Bar on Sundays January 13 and 27. Well-known Seattle-area jazz guitarist Jim Day will sit in for Pascal on January 4.

Many of the tunes performed will come from Locklear's recently released CD Girl Gone Jazz, an elegant collection of fresh swinging standards, sexy bossa novas, riveting ballads and three new original songs by Locklear. With an intimate cabaret feeling, Locklear pairs a rich alto voice of shimmering sensuality and jazz piano stylings refined over many years of performing in the Pacific Northwest and Europe. Drawing on her intensive background in musical genres ranging from jazz and Latin standards to rock and pop, Locklear is one of those musicians whose distinctive sound eludes classification.

Known beyond the Pacific Northwest for her jazz vibraphone artistry, Pascal heads the Susan Pascal Quartet. The vibraphonist's intricately melodic work can be heard on recordings by numerous jazz musicians and on the soundtracks of such movies as The Wedding Planner and Office Space.

One of the top jazz bass players in the Seattle area, Miller has toured with such jazz greats as Ella Fitzgerald and the Count Basie Orchestra. Miller is also a jazz teacher, and his compositions are featured on New Stories Records, the Big Neighborhood CD and recordings by Don Lanphere.

There is no cover charge for the shows at the Vertigo Lounge & Grill, 989 112th N.E., second floor, (425) 467-6767, and the Twisted Cork Wine Bar, in the Hyatt Regency Bellevue, 900 Bellevue Way N.E., (425) 637-0808. For more information, go to www.sandralocklear.com.
