Fourth World AIDS Day Luncheon to honor Rabbi Anson Laytner
Multifaith Works will honor Rabbi Anson Laytner on November 30 at the fourth annual World AIDS Day Luncheon with the Gwen Beighle Prestigious Committed Service Award. The award is named in honor of the Multifaith Works founder, Rev. Gwen Beighle whose vision and leadership played a vital role in inspiring members of diverse faith communities to unite in service bringing compassion and dignity to those living and dying with HIV/AIDS. The award recognizes Rabbi Laytner for his 12 years of service as the Executive Director of Multifaith Works from 1993-2005 and for his vision, leadership and commitment to helping people living with HIV/AIDS.

The Luncheon is Multifaith Works' premier annual event and largest fundraiser of the year which will raise $130,000 to further its mission of uniting communities of compassionate care and inclusive spirituality with people living in isolation and loneliness. Actor and lecturer Megan Cole will be performing a special theatrical presentation which depicts the work that Multifaith Works does to build compassionate communities, and local author Rev. Debra Jarvis will be emceeing the program.

Multifaith Works will also honor Ben Bridge Jewelers and client and volunteer, Pat Benson. Ben Bridge Jewelers will be honored with the Corporate Leader award which recognizes Ben Bridge Jewelers' event sponsorship, corporate philanthropy and commitment to helping better the lives of people living with HIV/AIDS. Ben Bridge Jewelers co-chairman, Herb Bridge will be accepting the award on behalf of the company which has generously supported Multifaith Works for almost a decade. Pat Benson, is a Multifaith Works client and volunteer and she will be awarded the HIV/AIDS Heroes Award for embracing the help of the Multifaith Works Shanti and CareTeams Programs and for making choices to improve the quality of her life and gain independence.
