A report from the Skagit PFLAG Annual Picnic
A report from the Skagit PFLAG Annual Picnic
by Barabara Allen, CMP - SGN Contributing Writer3 Seattle Councilmembers meet SPD Asst.Chief Metz about Belltown Gay-bashing The reality of rain on Aug. 19, 2007 did not daunt the picnic of the Northwest's premier PFLAG family.? When Robert and Kathy Reim faced losing their daughter if they didn't re-assess everything they'd been told to believe about homosexuality, they chose to love rather than practice bigotry and feel fear. They have become a shining, living role model for all families and human beings.

The result is one of the most progressive, caring and supportive organizations in the Northwest; despite the local conservatives and fundamentalists who oppose their efforts. The Reim's don't just talk about loving, supporting, and giving, they live it, daily.

Their annual picnic, held at their spacious and lovely Sedro Wooley residence is attended by more and more people each summer. This year, sixty people from as far away as Texas braved the rain, brought marvelous food, and had a wonderful time.
