Lipstick and Lust
Caustic bus rides, falling on the bus, and more lusting
by Rajkhet Dirzhud-Rashid - SGN A&E Writer

Aiiieeee! As I sit here, still slightly traumatized from my sojourn up the hill to the SGN offices on the number eleven bus, I have to reflect on the state of this city of late. People, people stop hitting your children (a man was actually slapping his daughter upside the head on the seat in front of me, just because she asked a flipping question!), stop getting bent out of shape because you get pushed by some other passenger on the crowded bus, and hey, never, never hit me upside the head to get my freaking attention. No matter who the hell you are, no matter how long you think youve known me. This from a woman who thinks were better friends than we actually are, something that Im still shaking from as I sit here writing.

I tell you, Metro has been the bane of this little kittys existence over the last couple of weeks. From the fall caused by one of Metros more hateful bus drivers (read about this adventure on my blog), which had me sitting in the UW Medical Centers emergency room four damned hours, to the above mentioned bus drama, the bus ride has not been fun. And with all of that fakaka I-5 construction going, (so a few extra riders, who are butt clueless about bus etiquette in this here city), riding the bus from point A to point Z is anything but pleasant. No wonder most people just give up and take their cars. True, there are the occasional sightings of cute grrlz or boys, but thats pretty damned rare in this lame assed city of mostly wimps and bitchy women who seem to hate everyone.

Ah, but all has not been bad for your intrepid lust collector. No, I have been working out on a different level, since my bus fall, and honey, the arms are looking muy fine, as is the butt, thanks to having to alter some of my usual weight lifting activity while I heal. Im so sure a certain officer of the law and a certain Trader Joes checker will be noticing, (and maybe this one will finally get them into The Digs for some quality time!). Also I am so loving that new ABC show Masters Of Science Fiction, which just rocks til the end of eternity. It comes on at 10 p.m. and the first episode was so good, this one delayed her trip to The Wet Spot to catch the whole show. Check it out, cause itll reroute your circuitry in a good way.

And what is at the top of my list to recommend to you my little acai berries? Well, if you havent yet tried it, do stop by the new La Vida Brazillian Juices place near Bartels in Harvard Market. They have the greatest selection of healthy smoothies, with some rainforest fruit additions thatll give you so much energy and make you feel so good, even a trip on the overcrowded number eleven bus wont bother you. Well, maybe. And do try Eyptian Magic cream, (which I picked up at the new place, Olivine, near the Sunday, Ballard Farmers Market). I know I wrote about it before, but its so good, and its been fading this awful cold sore/thing off the corner of my mouth, so I recommend it again. And, also, pick up some vanilla oil at Madison Market, mix with the dark patchouly you can get at the booth, Ballard Organics at both Fridays Farmers Market and the Ballard one on Sundays, and you have ze perfect summer scent. Also loving Philosophys Raspberry Body Scrub which I got a sample of from Sephora. Delish on a hot night, or just whenever you want a treat after a long day, on the bus or not.

But my fave thing of all fave things of late is to eat my own version of pickled cucumbers. Just the thing for us grrlz, when moon time rolls around youre craving something sour and salty. Heres the recipe. Slice up about three fresh cucumbers (which you get at a local Farmers Market, not at the storethe ones gotten from the Wednesday one in Columbia City and the one in the U-District on Saturdays are the best!), after you peel them, of course. Sprinkle salt and pepper to taste, add about four or five or more slices of fresh jalepeno pepper, drizzle with honey, cover with apple cider vinegar, then refrigerate for about two or three or more hours. Devour, make more, repeat. Light, delish and perfect for a summer treat day or night. Oh, and add onions and garlic, chopped if youre not planning on kissing anyone.

So, I guess thats it for now my sweet peaches (which you can also get the best of at the Columbia City Farmers Market on Wednesdays from 3 until 7 p.m.), and do feel free to e-mail me at ijanaral@yahoo.com. And check out my blog at bloggerspot.com for all sorts of new hijinks and other stuff, including the serial story, Adryana, and the soon to be serial story about SPD, Young Blues. For now, buhbye!
