CAMP 2007: Annual Labor Day retreat for Gay, Bi, Trans men returns
CAMP 2007: Annual Labor Day retreat for Gay, Bi, Trans men returns
Q-Squared Men, a Seattle-based non-profit organization for Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered (GBT) men holds an annual CAMP retreat over Labor Day weekend in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest in southwest Washington State. Celebrating its 12th year, CAMP provides "CAMPers" a unique venue to enjoy the pleasures of the outdoors while connecting with fellow GBT men in a fun, healthy environment.

Like traditional summer camps, the weekend event features a variety of activities, such as campfire sing-a-longs, hiking trips, a variety of outdoor games, a dance, and a talent show. In addition to traditional camp activities, CAMP offers specialized workshops that allow CAMPers to challenge themselves by learning new skills and exploring new ideas. Topics have included Life Drawing, Nature Photography, Massage for Gay Men, The Art of Flirting, Creative Harmonizing, Easy Bake Oven Cake Decorating, Drag 101 and more.

CAMPers have the choice of staying in a modern cabin or roughing it in their own tent. CAMP is a place for Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered men to connect with each other during a drug and alcohol free event where participants are encouraged to take risks, shed attitudes and dissolve boundaries. The opportunity for personal growth and transformation is amazing. CAMP was formed in 1995 by a group of men who envisioned an event that would free Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered men from the stress and confinement of the city to build a sense of community in a relaxed and natural environment. This event, the first CAMP, took place over Labor Day weekend in 1996. The name, CAMP, is an acronym reflective of its goal: Come And Meet People. Since that first event, it has been a resounding success.

This year CAMP 2007 will be held Friday, August 31st through Monday, September 3rd. The event is open to all Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered men. Anyone interested in attending may contact CAMP by calling (206) 984-CAMP (2267) or visiting http://www.qcamp.org. Space is limited to 160 participants.
