Queen City Cruise offers standby tickets for sold out cruise
Queen City Cruise offers standby tickets for sold out cruise
Guaranteed-boarding tickets to 26th annual Queen City Cruise are sold out, but Cruisers will still have a good chance to get onboard for wildest Gay party in Seattle when standby tickets go on sale Saturday, July 28. Holders of standby tickets will be boarded in place of any no-shows for the August 11 party aboard the Goodtime II. Tickets are $50 each and available only online at tickets.ttca.org.

The summer extravaganza begins dockside, bright (hopefully) and early at 1100 hours on Saturday, August 11 with a free pre-boarding show featuring Seattle's finest entertainers hosted by Marina Dennis (direct from Miami Beach) and outstanding co-host Mr. Tony Buff. The two hosts will present a dock full of talent from both the Queen City and abroad - with a line-up of performers that includes Aleksa Manila, Chablis, Marcy Kraft, Poison Waters, and the LVHS Cheerleaders (Bessie, Millie, and Selma).

Following the show, at noon, nearly 500 anxious adventurers will embark on a titillating tour of Seattle's wettest spots - its scenic harbor and glistening inland passages. Anyone who's cruised will tell you that there's simply no better way to get out on the water and greet our fine friends and neighbors.

The party people aboard the decorated, loud, and very Gay Goodtime II become a major attraction themselves as the party boat passes through the Ballard Locks. A small fleet of pleasure boaters often follows the Cruise as the Goodtime II makes its circuit through the Ship Canal and Lake Union. Some of those boaters will occasionally present to cruisers a full moon (or two) even on the sunniest of days.

The Cruise this year has been dubbed "Pier Pressure". The tour theme hearkens back to a big springtime party called "The Prom...You Never Went To!" that had a fourteen-year run from 1983 to 1997. In honor of the tenth anniversary of the last dance at The Prom, Tacky Tourist Clubs has invited back many of the characters from the party and revived Lavender Valley High School for one last hurrah during a series of events called the LVHS Classless Reunion. Queen City Cruise: Pier Pressure is the climax party of the Reunion.

A 26-year Seattle tradition, the Queen City Cruise is an Unforgettable Naughtycal Adventure on the High Seas and a deliciously deviant contribution to Seafair, Seattle's water sports extravaganza.

There's something for everyone on board: soaking in the sights and sun on the front bow, shaking the booty to great dance music, drinking cool libations served by fun-loving bartenders at the no-host bars, and sampling fine edibles at the bountiful buffet provided by The City Catering Co.

And if all that isn't tempting enough, there will be contests and prizes -including the coveted traditional award for "Coming the Greatest Distance." Dress up or dress down your student body and compete for fabulous prizes in the costume contests for The Student Body and Dressed for Excess and Best Activity Group.

The Cruise is produced by the Seattle Chapter of Tacky Tourist Clubs of America, an organization known for its imaginatively outrageous events and excursions. Since 1981, the Tacky Tourists have produced outrageous events and excursions while raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for community non-profit organizations. This year's Cruise beneficiaries include: Action Northwest; the Legal Marriage Alliance of Washington and our very own LGBT Community Center.
