Where It's At
Fergie and Lily Allen set for KISS 106.1's 'Girls Night Out' at Everett Events Center, Dina Martina does B-sides at Rebat
by Richard Kennedy - SGN A&E Writer

"Girls Night Out" featuring Fergie, Lily Allen, Hilary Duff and Katherine McPhee
Sunday, May 13 - 7pm
Everett Events Center - $37, $47, $108

It's "girls, girls, girls!" at the Everett Events Center this weekend! After spending Mother's Day listening to your Mom and all of her drama, you might be in the mood to close your mind down, have a little fun, and just be entertained. Don't worry about being moved to tears by heartbreaking ballads or given chills by poignant lyrics, "Girl's Night Out" is strictly a guilty pleasure and a way to let off some steam.

The UK's newest pop sensation, Lily Allen, opens the show bringing her style of ska and rap with sassy lyrics. Easily the most unique performer on the lineup, she has recently been gaining lots of popularity in the States with both pop fans and indie music lovers. Think of a young Gwen Stefani&but with a lot more talent.

The MTV TRL crowd will be around for the next two performers. American Idol runner-up Katherine McPhee will surely leave the audience awe-struck with her hit single "Over It." Then, Disney chanteuse Hillary Duff will command the stage and belt hit after hit from her successful albums. Of course I'm being flip, but seriously, these girls really do have number one singles and smash albums. I'm going just to see what all the commotion is about.

The headliner is really the biggest reason to catch this spectacle. The one and only Fergie returns with her hot solo hits and hopefully, at least a couple Black Eyed Peas songs. What The Duchess lacks in raw talent, she more than makes up for in fun. Admit you're a sucker for those crazy outfits, ridiculously catchy booty-shaking songs ("Glamorous" anyone?) and no doubt a couple of lackluster ballads. Maybe she'll even piss her pants onstage again, and you know you don't want to miss that!

Feel free to pick and choose which ingénues you want to see and the ones you hope to avoid. I really do recommend catching Lily Allen opening at 7. Katharine McPhee starts at 7:45, followed by Hillary Duff at 8:35, and Fergie takes over at 9:50. Something tells me most of the Gay boys will get there in time for "The Duchess". Don't worry, if I see you there I won't tell anyone back in Seattle. Tickets at www.everetteventscenter.com. R. Kennedy

Artist Essentials: Lily Allen's Alright, Still Fergie's The Duchess, Katherine Mcphee's self-titled debut, and Hillary Duff's The Lizzy McGuire Movie- of course!!

Dina Martina
Through May 26 (Fridays, Saturdays) - 8pm
Rebar - $18

Only two more weeks left to catch musical chanteuse and Seattle favorite, Dina Martina, at Rebar! This is an extra special show titled "Little-known Sedentary Favorites", DINA MARTINA: B-SIDES. It's not your typical collection of greatest hits, but a mélange of Miss Martina's personal favorites from non-Christmas shows performed for short runs, along with a generous helping of material from her performances in New York and Provincetown that have NEVER before been performed in Seattle!

This is a must for you first-timers who need to lose your Dina virginity. You can't miss her any longer; she's a national star now, even causing a splash in the Big Apple. If you're already a fan, you can't miss this chance to see the material that has already wowed audiences all over the East Coast. I have friends who have already seen this show more than once, which explains why its been extended through May 26.

Check out Dina's site at www.dinamartina.com and Rebar's site at www.rebarseattle.com. They are welcoming back Queer Disco on May 31st (and on the last Thursday of every month after that) with one of Seattle's most fabulous DJ's, MC Queen Lucky.

DINA MARTINA: B-SIDES runs Friday and Saturday nights, now through May 26. Doors at 7pm, show at 8pm. Tickets available by phone at (206) 325-6500, online at www.ticketwindowonline.com, or in person (no service charge) when purchased with cash at Broadway Market, Pike Place Market, Pacific Place and Meydenbauer Center.
