Oregon Supreme Court justice to deliver keynote at GLBT Bar Association of Washington's Second Annual Banquet
The GLBT Bar Association of Washington ("QLAW") is pleased to announce that the Honorable Virginia L. Linder will give the keynote address at its Second Annual Banquet, to be held on Thursday, April 19, 2007 at the Grand Hyatt Seattle. On January 2, 2007 , Justice-Elect Linder will be sworn in as the 99th Justice of the Oregon Supreme Court making her the first openly Lesbian state Supreme Court justice in the nation and the first woman elected to serve on Oregon 's highest court. She will join fellow Oregon Supreme Court Justice Rives Kistler as the second openly LGBT person in the country to be elected to a state supreme court.

Prior to her most recent election, Justice Linder served on the Oregon Court of Appeals and was the first woman to serve as Oregon 's Solicitor General. Justice Linder is also an adjunct professor at Willamette University College of Law, where she teaches appellate advocacy, and is active with the diversity programs of the Oregon State Bar.

The GLBT Bar Association of Washington's Second Annual Banquet will begin with a no-host reception at 5:30 p.m. , with dinner following at 6:30 p.m. QLAW seeks law firm and corporate sponsors for tables of ten at the following levels: Bronze, $1,500; Silver, $2,500; Gold, $5,000. Sponsors will be recognized at the banquet and on the QLAW website. QLAW is a 501(c)(3) organization and donations are tax-exempt to the extent permitted by law. Law firms or companies wishing to make sponsorship contributions in calendar year 2006 or those with sponsorship-related inquiries, should email treasurer@q-law.org.

QLAW: The GLBT Bar Association of Washington is an association of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender legal professionals and their friends. QLAW serves as a voice for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender lawyers in the state of Washington on issues relating to diversity and equality in the legal profession, in the courts, and in the legal system.
