Columbia City Cabaret - a lively, funny, sweetly bawdy show
Columbia City Cabaret - a lively, funny, sweetly bawdy show
by Rajkhet Dirzhud-Rashid - SGN A&E Writer

If you're looking for a wonderful evening of fun and laughter, with a little sexiness thrown in, then look no further than Columbia City, where Tamara The Trapeze Lady brings together a different show each week during the Columbia City Cabaret. And believe me, it's something you won't soon forget. You'll have your toes tapping and your eyes delighting.

Last week's show started with Tamara tossing a red balloon back and forth in the crowd-and the balloon matched her red and black outfit, down to her very vampy shoes-then joining the 'Cocktet' on stage. This group of professional, top-notch musicians accompanied Tamara, and set the mood perfectly for the first burlesque entertainer, 'Lucky Penny', who came on stage wearing a perfect replica of a Carmen Miranda outfit. But the outfit was pretty soon cast off in a sassy strip number that left little to the imagination, although one could call it 'PG', not 'X' rated. Sexy, but not vulgar.

After cute and saucy 'Penny' left, 'Trixie' performed an even more elaborate strip, which had the audience howling with joy. But my favorite piece of the evening was the deliciously sensuous piece by Tamara herself, called 'Tissue Orgasm', which showed off her superb aerial skills to their best. That and the song about everyone 'getting some', but her by 'Sheu Sheu Le Cock' (accompanied by the Cocktet) made it a splendid evening, as did the two other strip teases by 'Trixie' and 'Penny'.

There'll be new performers, and more fun this week and every Friday, so go on down and enjoy yourself. Located at 4916 Rainier Avenue, South, with the bar opening at 7 p.m. and show starting at 9 p.m. And go early, the intimate environs of the theatre fill up fast.
