Another festival to go to during the Seafair festivities
Another festival to go to during the Seafair festivities

Central Area Community Festival
Garfield High School grounds
July 22-23rd

One of the events I do love that takes place about this time of year is the Central Area Community Festival, which is cutting back to two days this year. So, you can hang out at the Black Pride workshops, film fest and dance, and still grab some delicious barbecue, and see some soulful performers at CACF.

The two-day festival has lasted through changes in the neighborhood, being scheduled the same weekend as The Bite of Seattle (who really wants to deal with all of those crowds?), and over the years has only become better. In the past there have also been appearances by the Mariner Moose, and Seafair Princesses, as well as the delightful Filipino drill team that also marches in the Seafair parade.

And, then, there's that scrumptious strawberry shortcake, which many regulars to the festival travel miles, year after year, to sample. So, if you're wanting to celebrate good weather, share with fun people, and gnosh like royalty, without paying like same, head on over to Garfield High School, and prepare to be dazzled.

For more information on performers, and what vendors and information booths will be at the festival, go to their website at www.cacf.org.
