Rise n' Shine bestows founder's award
Rise n' Shine bestows founder's award
Warren Romero was recognized for 14 years of volunteer service

Warren Romero received the Rise n' Shine Founder's Award at the "Come Home To Dinner" this past Monday. Held at All Purpose Pizza on at 29th & Jackson Street, the dinner honored volunteers who give so much to children affected by AIDS. Warren received this special award for his 14 years of continuous volunteer service as a mentor, camp counselor, and fund raiser.

Alan Johnson, another long-time volunteer hugged Warren during the award ceremony and said "He is a cuddly old bear for the little kids and for the rest of us too. He is always there when you need him."

Warren was inspired to become part of Rise n' Shine by a talk Janet Trinkaus made at a GSBA luncheon in 1991. He signed up for a one year commitment as a mentor, and hasn't left since. Warren's latest endeavor in the community was to bring together the support of the Northwest Bears and Rise n' Shine.

This is a man with a big heart and overflowing compassion.
